Funky Flute Club now have their own website! Visit www.sarah33210.wixsite.com/funkyfluteclub for more details.

The Funky Flute Club has been running since Easter 2010 and consists of two groups, one for children from beginner to grade 4 and one for grade 5 upwards. The groups meet at Durley Primary School for ten sessions per term and have preformed at the Southampton Music Festival, Upham Variety Show, Botley Market Hall, Winchester Cathedral and Music for Youth. In 2017 they got through to the final of the national FluteWise Flute Choir Competition and got to play infront of LSO flautist Gareth Davies, as well as the judging panel of Gareth McLearnon, Blaz and Ana Pucihar.

Children come from eight different schools to participate and have the opportunity to play the piccolo, alto flute and bass flute in addition to the common C flute. Funky Flute Club have also participated in the CLIC Sargent Practice-a-thon where they raised over £200 to help children battling against cancer and they raised £200 for Naomi House Children's Hospice with their performance of Luna's Magic Flute. As well as learning arrangements of pop songs and classical music, rehearsals include games and flute-related challenges, with an emphasis on developing young musicians and a passion for music. In Autumn 2017 they are studying music related to ‘Stars and Sky’. For more details please contact Sarah.
