2013 gets off to a busy start - April 2013

A lot has happened since I last managed to write in this blog section. August 2012 saw me travel to both the NFA convention at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas and the BFS convention at the RNCM in Manchester. I was also lucky enough to participate in the Woldingham and Harrogate Summer Schools, both were revitalizing and inspiring as I met like-minded people and learnt from the UK's best teachers. I bought my very own house at the end of August - I just managed to move in and unpack before term started again and as well as doing lots of teaching and conducting and playing I also trained for the Great South Run which I completed on 28th October - 10 miles in just over 1 and a half hours! An excellent flute day with Wissam Boustany and Lisa Nelsen took place in November and Christmas was a blur of concerts and a run of 'Beauty and the Beast' at Wyvern. This year I have done another run of 'Beauty and the Beast' and also 'Cats', as well as a 10km run and recording a CD with the Funky Flute Club. Plans are now forming for a flute day with Tempest and a jazz improvisation day with Gareth Lockrane, plus performances of 'The Boys in the Photograph', 'West Side Story' and 'Annie' all within the next month. I will try to keep this more up to date in the future, but for now watch this space, have a look at the new videos - especially Flautissimo and Saxophony performing together - and I look forward to seeing you all soon!
